Why I Love West Texas
Nearly two years ago, I set off on an impromptu road trip, promising myself that I would not make a single plan. It was a hard time in my life and this was a throw-my-hands-up effort to do something to pull myself out of a dark cloud. To let go of the tyranny of my to-do list and my paralyzing expectations. It worked. I found myself traveling lonely roads south of Durango, through New Mexico, east through Texas, and all the way to the Gulf Coast. To say it was an amazing and restorative trip is an understatement. Now, an essay I wrote about the experience appears in the February/March issue of National Geographic Traveler.
