Move Over Winter, It’s Time For…
This time of year, the weather is unpredictable in Telluride, Colorado. Today, it’s raining and snowing. In a week, it could be t-shirt weather. One thing that’s a sure bet, however, is Mountainfilm, a wonderful tradition that marks the end of winter and the beginning of summer. Held every Memorial Day weekend, it’s a celebration of films that document mountains and the people who love them as well as environmental and social causes. The vibe is decidedly mellow and inclusive, and the whole four-day festival seems powered by optimism. I’ve met authors like Jared Diamond, chatted with elite running coaches, and listened to talks by National Geographic editors and motivated young filmmakers. Every time I go, I emerge inspired and emboldened. Check out my ode to this remarkable event, “Move over winter, it’s Mountainfilm time,” which appears in the Boston Globe this weekend.
